TASTE THE TRADITION - Our Story

Generations of Kaua‘i Ranching Excellence

For over a century, our family has proudly raised the highest-quality, locally sourced beef on the Hawaiian island of Kaua‘i.

On my father’s side, our ranching roots trace back to my great-great-great-grandfather. On my mother’s side, we honor the legacy of my great-grandfather Antone Martin, a legendary paniola (Hawaiian cowboy) who braved Kaua‘i’s rugged mountains to wrangle wild, long-horned cattle that had escaped nearby plantations.

Antone and his crew navigated treacherous trails—crossing through Papa‘alai, Ha‘ele‘ele Ridge, and up to the remote Polihale Ridge—risking life and limb to rope these untamed cattle. “He was a really good cowboy,” my grand-uncle Lawrence Vidinha would often tell me.

These wild cattle were more than a dangerous nuisance, devouring sugar cane and destroying native Hawaiian forests. But to the generations before me, they represented an opportunity. By roping and domesticating them over time, my ancestors—my third-great, second-great, great-grandfather, grandfather, and my dad—built their own cattle ranches, establishing a lasting legacy.

Today, we continue that tradition, raising 100% pasture-raised, grass-fed beef with the same dedication to quality and sustainability. Our beef is hormone-free, dry-aged using our traditional artisan methods passed down through generations for maximum flavor, and produced using time-honored, environmentally conscious ranching practices.

We invite you to Taste the Tradition—a legacy of over 100 years of Kaua‘i ranching expertise.

Bone Broth for The Fall

For generations, bone broth has been a health staple, even when families had little else to rely on. During the plantation days here on Kaua’i, families might only have one beef femur to make broth. But rather than keep it to themselves, they’d share it with their neighbors. Each family would boil the same bone to create their own nourishing broth, passing the nutrients and goodwill from one household to the next. They understood that this simple food was more than just a meal—it was a gift that made everyone stronger, physically and as a community.
